ABSTRACT: New possibilities of androgenetic alopecia treatment with the Er:YAG laser

KEY WORDS: hair loss, androgenetic alopecia, YAG laser, hair growth cycle, hair growth

Androgenetic alopecia is a genetically determined condition (the sensitivity of hair follicles to the effects of male hormones) that can affect both men and women. Operation of additional factors may accelerate this process. In determining the diagnosis, the basic role is played by the trichoscopy and an accurate medical history. The aim of the article is to present new treatment options for androgenetic alopecia. The authors observed 24 patients (two groups of 12 people). In each group, three treatments were performed by using the Er: YAG laser at 6-week intervals. For patients from the second group, after the procedure, a preparation with nanopeptides was applied to the surface of the scalp. Six weeks after the first treatment, both groups re- ported an increase in new hair and reinforcement of existing hair. The use of the Er: YAG 2940 nm laser can be an effective method of non-surgical hair growth stimulation.
